I think if I was going to make a list of the things I’m really, really good at, one of the things right at the top of the list would be “eating.” Yes, it’s a hobby of mine, really. My form and precision are spot on…if eating was an Olympic sport, well you could just call me Tonya Harding because my awesomeness would whack you in the knees! What? I don’t know…it’s pretty late here…
Anyway, one of my favorite things to eat is biscuits. Now all you European readers out there are going to need to relearn what a biscuit really is. It’s not a cookie or a cracker. Shame on you for even thinking that. Wikipedia does a good job explaining the difference, and you can click here to read it. I can pretty much sum it up, by telling you they are soft, fluffy pieces of breaded heaven.
Oh yeah. And they are especially nice when they are dripping in butter (as seen above). I have been in biscuit withdrawal here in Austria for quite some time. It surprises me that biscuits haven’t traveled over the Atlantic yet since Europeans are such bread lovers…maybe sometime soon. Anyway, my mom and I stumbled across some self-rising flour at Tesco during her visit. This is preferable when making biscuits. And wouldn’t you know it, cocoa was right next to it. Now if any of you are within a 50 mile radius from my hometown zip code, you should know what popped into our heads next…..biscuits and chocolate gravy!!!!!
Jeremy and I knew we were made for each other because the other one knew what chocolate gravy was. Chocolate gravy is basically a chocolate sauce that you pour over buttered biscuits. It is supposed to be a breakfast dish, but it was always up for grabs for any meal with my mom and me! We made it twice for supper during her visit here! :o) I told you I was a Tonya Harding Olympic eater. I’m hoping to educate all the Austrians in the land about biscuits and chocolate gravy. I want the names to become as common as Wiener schnitzel and apple strudel! Seriously though, if you've never had biscuits and chocolate gravy, please search for a recipe (or email me). You haven't lived till you've tried it!
On that tasty note, I learned something really important recently. Spinach + baby + sneeze =
Not a pretty picture! YUM! :o)
