Well, that’s actually wrong. It’s Gone Yesterday, Hair Today. You see I discovered something recently that no one ever told me about. Once I started asking around, it seemed like it happened to most everyone. Everyone that is, that was pregnant. When you are pregnant, your body holds on to absolutely everything it can. So hair that would normally fall from your head, stays put….thus producing the commonly known fact that pregnant women have shinier, fuller hair. What no one tells you is all that glorious, lustrous hair must come out eventually. This usually happens around 5 or 6 months after the baby is born. To give you some idea of how dramatic this can be, a normal person loses, on average, 100-200 hairs a day. When your body starts shedding preggo hair, you begin losing around 500 hairs (or more) a day. When Eli was 5 months old, I thought I was going bald! Hair was everywhere…I even found it in his diaper. Sad, I know. Now all that lost hair is starting to replenish slightly. And I’m getting these nifty second set of bangs. I thought I should document this. As you can see from this picture, my bangs are pulled back, but I have these cute (cute, right?) little fuzzies all over my head.
So be forewarned all my friends who are pregnant or just recently had babies. Hair you will have today, but gone it will be tomorrow. But at least you’ll be more informed than me!
Going along with the same theme, we are finally home today, but we’ll be gone again in the near future. On Saturday, Eli and I will be joining Jeremy on the first part of his fall tour. We’ll be visiting Lucerne, Switzerland and London. When Jer goes on to Japan, we’ll come home to welcome my mom back to Vienna! She’ll be staying with us while Jeremy finishes the rest of his two weeks on tour. Then, maybe we’ll be home for a while!
Speaking of home, today we did a little baby-proofing. Since we have a crawler now, we decided to make some home changes.
One was to put baby gates up on our stairway. It makes it a lot safer with those up. I also love the fact that they came with the house, so they match the stairs…yay!
We also lowered his bed because he has been trying to pull up. I don’t want any bumped noggins! Electrical outlets have also been covered among various other things. Everything changes when a baby becomes mobile!
Or when he can fly…
He loves to be thrown by daddy. But I think we kind of like it too. Because why wouldn’t we do everything we could to see this sweet smile?
